Jennifer Garner, born April 17th, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was raised in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner is her father. He worked as chemical engineers for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother taught at a local college. In the hopes of following in her father's footsteps her graduation was an education in chemical engineering. In order to fulfill her desire to be an actor, she moved to New York. Her Broadway role was accompanied by a job in a local eatery. The TV show "Felicity," she had a small cameo. (It is in this show where she got to know her husband Scott Foley. Garner made her mark in the romantic comedy "13 Goin' on 30" in which she played the role of a teenage girl trapped within the body of a 30-year-old. Garner picked Gary Winick, who directed the film. They worked together to find other projects after the death of Winick. Garner was appointed as an artist ambassador with Save the Children U.S.A. for 2009, played an important role within the organization. This role entails promoting literacy, nutrition, and early education. Garner has been on this board of trustees since 2014. Garner promotes early childhood learning. As a spokesperson, she travels frequently with families that are part of Early Steps to School Success the program which trains parents on ways to support the children in learning.
